The room was filled with artists, photographers, designers, actors, directors, aerial dancers, musicians... who we're all dyslexic. As someone (musician/composer) with dyslexia and dyscalculia it was a really inspiring day - as well as being a great workshop, it was also great to meet people who work in similar ways and to hear what amazing things everyone was achieving. Afterwards Cultural Enterprise Office put us all in touch by email.
A few weeks went passed and I thought it would be a shame not to do something so I made a Facebook group called 'Creative Dyslexics Scotland' and any dyslexics based in Scotland who work in creative industries is welcome to join. On the 1st of June we will be having our first meet up. Although this meeting is in Edinburgh I hope that other people will get involved and organise meetings in their own areas throughout Scotland, so people can meet and network, inspire each other and hopefully even collaborate.
The group currently has 32 members and is continuing to grow thanks to promotion through Cultural Enterprise Scotland, Dyslexia Scotland, Lexxic and other organisations.
Dyslexia Scotland asked me to write a short article about the group which will be in the next issue of their magazine.
