Nice to get back home for for a few days - this is Helensburgh on Christmas day. Heading East to play at Hogmanay celebrations at The Queen's Hall, Edinburgh.
On our new album 'Imprints' we recorded 'Cruachan Bheann' which we learned from from the singing of Duncan Lamont (a piper and postman from Pennyghael, Mull) on an old recording in the Tobar an Dualchais ~ Kist o Riches archives.
You can hear this recording here and our version of it here
The song praises Ben Cruachan and says that there is no mountain in Europe on a par with it. It was composed by Pàdraig Mac an t-Saoir (Peter MacIntyre)
- We are so lucky to live in a time where we can access these old recordings so easily thanks to some very hardworking people.
